Charlie Carver is opening up about his family's history of mental health issues and addiction for the first time.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Teen Wolf and Desperate Housewives star discusses how the divorce of his parents and his father's subsequent suicide have impacted his life.
"I was 11 when I learned of the reason behind my parents' divorce," Carver says. "My father had been struggling with addiction and mental health issues for many years, and it eventually led to their separation."
Carver's father died by suicide in 2015, when Carver was 27 years old. "It was a really difficult time for me," he says. "I was still trying to process the divorce, and then I had to deal with the death of my father."
Carver says that he is now in a good place, thanks to therapy and the support of his family and friends.
